1,000 Community Members Will Convene to Raise Funds for Greater Social and Economic Change

WHAT:

 On May 8, more than 1,000 community and business leaders in the Twin Cities will gather at YWCA Minneapolis’ 23^rd annual Circle of Women luncheon to pool their economic power and raise money for initiatives that eliminate racism and empower women and girls in Minneapolis. YWCA works toward this mission through programs focused on Racial Justice and Public Policy, Early Childhood Education, Girls and Youth, and Health and Wellness. Last year, this event raised more than half a million dollars.Woman of Power AwardThis year, YWCA Minneapolis is presenting the second annual Woman of Power Award, to honor a woman who has shown exceptional leadership. The 2019 recipient is Sharon Sayles Belton, the first African American and first woman to be elected mayor of the city of Minneapolis. Sharon is recognized in our community as an influential activist, politician and leader through her career and community work.During the program, guests will hear the powerful stories behind YWCA’s mission and have the opportunity to join with thousands of philanthropists to propel greater social and economic change.
