Community-powered vaccine event hosted by YWCAs, Children’s Minnesota and moreMINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – YWCA Minneapolis, YWCA St. Paul, Children’s Minnesota and 10 other community partners are joining together to host a special walk-in vaccine clinic, offering the Johnson & Johnson one-shot vaccine for those 18 years and older on May 22, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at YWCA Midtown (2121 East Lake Street, Minneapolis, MN 55407).Learn more about the event at ywcampls.org/vaccine.Located in the heart of South Minneapolis, this community-powered, multicultural event is intended to make the experience of getting the COVID-19 vaccine easy, friendly and accessible. The event is supported by a host of collaborating partners, including African American Leadership Forum, Coalition of Asian American Leaders, LatinoLEAD, Linking Leaders, Minnesota Community Care, Minnesota Department of Health, NorthPoint Health and Wellness, Pimento Relief Services and Tiwahe Foundation; and in cooperation with Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.“This is truly about our incredible community coming together to ensure the vaccine is not only easily available, but is offered in a way where people feel comfortable and welcomed. Our YWCA Midtown location has always been a vibrant community hub and we are happy to open the doors to serve our neighbors in this way,” said Jacqueline Lloyd Cunningham, vice president of marketing and communications with YWCA Minneapolis.“At this stage in the vaccination process, it’s important that we think creatively about how we partner with communities to get more people protected,” said Adriene Thornton, infection preventionist at Children's Minnesota. “By joining together with our incredible community partners, we can make it through this last stretch of the pandemic and get back to a semblance of normalcy that we’ve all been waiting for.”
